Joseph Biroc was an American cinematographer active in film from the mid-1940s through mid-1980s. He photographed many of director Robert Aldrich's films. Biroc received an Academy Award for cinematography for THE TOWERING INFERNO (1974).
The Joseph Biroc papers span the years 1917-1993 (bulk 1943-1979) and encompass 11 linear feet. The collection contains scripts, cast and crew lists, correspondence, contracts, clippings, and photographs. There is some material regarding Biroc's military service during World War II. The photograph series consists of prints and slides of motion picture production and subject photographs.
