Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer was an American motion picture production company formed in 1924. The studio was
located in Culver City, California. From the late 1940s until 1970, MGM owned and operated a British
studio in Borehamwood, north of London.
Collection Scope and Content Summary
The Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer British production records span the years 1947-1968 and encompass 8 linear
feet. The collection contains some scripts and an assortment of production material, including call
sheets, research, work orders, schedules, and production correspondence for films produced by MGM in
Britain. More than 50 films are represented as well as a smattering of unproduced projects. Film titles
include THE BARRETTS OF WIMPOLE STREET (1957), THE FLAME AND THE FLESH (1954), GORGO (1961), THE HAUNTING
(1963), OPERATION CROSSBOW (1965), and THE WRECK OF THE MARY DEARE (1959).
