Description
This collection documents the career of Richard “Dick” Puckett, director of the Ford Ord Arts and Crafts program from 1960 to 1986, as well as the activities and operations of the program itself during that time. Materials include photographs and slides of art shows and art work, as well as sample art work and pottery created as part of the Art and Crafts program. It also includes materials related to the history of the program, administrative papers and correspondence, photographs, slides, fliers, clippings, ephemera, artifacts, and framed items.
Background
Richard “Dick” Puckett was born September 9, 1932 and grew up in Keno, Oregon. He received his B.A. in Public Service from the University of San Francisco, where he majored in Fine Arts and Education. Puckett began his career in the Army Arts and Crafts program in 1956 at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Puckett served as the Fort Ord Chief Arts and Crafts Director from 1960 until he retired in 1986.
