Description
The Sydney Pollack papers span the years 1956-2008 and encompass 118 linear feet of manuscripts and 108 artworks. The collection includes production records, scripts, correspondence, posters, set plans, and photographs. The production files include material on ABSENCE OF MALICE (1981), OUT OF AFRICA (1985), THE SLENDER THREAD (1965), THEY SHOOT HORSES, DONӔ THEY? (1969), TOOTSIE (1982), and THE WAY WE WERE (1973).
Background
Sydney Pollack was an American director, producer, and actor active in film from 1962 to 2008. He began his career as an actor, was a television director in the early 1960s, then went on to direct, produce, and act in dozens of films. Pollack received Academy Awards in the directing and best picture categories for OUT OF AFRICA (1985).
