Description
Captain James Hunter Bull's description of a journey on a portion of the old Mission Trail in Baja Californiia which took place from October to November 1844. The journey began in Mulego (Melege) Baja California on the Gulf of California and traveled through San Ignacia Mission, Mission Santa Gertrudes, San Borja Mission, Calemege, Mission Santa Maria, Mission San Fernandes and Rosario. 11 days after leaving Rosario, Bull ends the journal in San Diego. It is a rich description of the places, people and history of the natives, missionaries and Spanish soldiers. The 33 handwritten pages are a photostatic copy of the original. Included is a photostatic copy of the original Mexican passport authorizing the journey through the territory.
