    Abstract: Press releases, correspondence, proposal, flyers, notes, clippings, pamphlets, resolutions, admission packet, and other items documenting activity of the People's College of Law of the National Lawyers Guild (PCL), 1973-1980. The PCL was an unaccredited law school intended to train legal professionals to defend the rights of "the poor and oppressed." The PCL included a gay caucus, which focused on gay and lesbian rights projects.

    Founded in 1974, the People's College of Law of the National Lawyers Guild was "dedicated to the creation of a group of lawyers who will serve the needs of the poor and oppressed of every community."

    Scope and Content

    Press releases, correspondence, proposal, flyers, notes, clippings, pamphlets, resolutions, admission packet, and other items primarily documenting the gay caucus of the People's College of Law of the National Lawyers Guild (PCL), 1973-1980. It was founded by a coalition that included the National Lawyers Guild, minority legal organizations, and a gay caucus. The collection includes many letters of inquiry from prospective students addressed to the PCL's gay caucus.
