    Historical Note

    The Oral History Program was established by the University of California Regents in 1959 and renamed the Center for Oral History Research in October 2005. It is one of the oldest and largest oral history programs in the country. The Center documents the social, cultural, and political history of the Los Angeles metropolitan region though interviews with individuals who have been involved in historically significant events. The Center's most significant areas of emphasis are: communities of color, social movements, politics and government, Central Avenue and Beyond, books and fine printing, water resources and university history.

    Scope and Content

    Record Series 168 contains the publications of UCLA's Oral History Program. Files include newsletters, brochures, and information regarding oral history and the Oral History Program.
