Biographical/Historical Sketch

Chodorow received his B.A. in 1934 at the University of Buffalo, and his Ph.D., 1939, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He taught at Pennsylvania State College and College of the City of New York and worked with the Sperry Gyroscope Company (1943-47), before joining the faculty at Stanford in 1947. He served as Chair of the Department of Applied Physics from 1962-69 and Director of the Edward L. Ginzton Laboratory, 1959-78. He held a Fulbright Fellowship at Cambridge University, 1962-63, and was elected to the National Academy of Engineering, 1967, and the National Academy of Sciences, 1971.
