Abstract: The collection consists of typescript volumes by author Vernon Patterson (1896-1978), founding faculty member and professor
of English at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California. Patterson documented the early lives of his youngest son, Christopher
(born 1949), and Christopher's son Benjamin (born ca. 1969) in multi-volume literary works entitled "The Book of Christopher"
(begun 1961) and "The Chronicle of Benjamin" (1971-1975). The narratives provide insight into Orange County living and culture
from the 1950s-1970s. The collection also includes unbound typescripts and photographs, as well as diaries by Christopher
Patterson from 1965-1967.
