Louise Booth correspondence 1932-2005

Abstract: This collection contains correspondence from Jeanne Roullet to Helen Louise (Hitt) Booth. Their correspondence begain in 1932 as pen pals. It continued until about 2010, when Jeanne Roullet died. Louise Booth died in 2012. There are several hundred letters in this collection. The two women only met in France in 1952, 1964, 1968, 1971, 1974, and 1987. Jeanne Roullet lived in Paris on Rue de Vaugiard. She also lived in Menton. Jeanne never married. She was a graduate of the Sorbonne University with a degree in Art History. She became a lecturer at the Louvre Museum. Louise Booth taught English, Drama, and Speech in various high schools. She wrote eight books on history, including a history of Chapman University. She had over twenty articles published in various journals. Louise married Donald R. Booth in 1953, abd they had one son, David, who is a Chapman graduate.

This photo album was a Christmas present from Jeanne Roullet to Louise Booth in 1946. However, Louise continued to add photos after this date. The album contains black-and-white photos taken by Jeanne from 1932 to 1952.

Carton 7 This carton contains some of Louise Booth's important documents such as her tax information, her grades in school, and a timeline of important dates in her life. It also contains some of her writings.
Box 8 This box contains Don Booth's photographs taken for the Orange County Historical Society's Photographic contest.
