The collection consists of records of the
College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Materials in the collection include records
from various departments and centers, information on academic minors and student
activities, and event fliers and programs.
The College of Social and Behavioral Sciences began at San Fernando Valley State College
as the School of Letters and Science. In 1972, when California State University,
Northridge was established, the School of Letters and Science was split into three
different schools, with the Anthropology, Geography, History, Political Science,
Psychology and Sociology majors incorporated into the new School of Social and
Behavioral Sciences. The school was renamed the College of Social and Behavioral
Sciences sometime in the 1990s.
