Description
This collection is comprised of newspaper clippings documenting Southeast Asian communities, primarily Hmong, Lao, and Cambodian, in the Fresno and Tulare County areas of Central California. Clippings were collected by longtime Tulare resident Letha Cooke for approximately 30 years and contain articles from local publications The Fresno Bee and Visalia Times-Delta. A small amount of newsletters and ephemera from local religious and refugee organizations are also included. While select clippings were organized by Cooke into topical areas, the bulk has no discernable arrangement. Topics include healthcare, food, cultural activities, political issues, and education.
