Scope and Content
The collection consists mostly of stills from films produced in Mexico from the 1950s to the 1970s. Around 650 titles are
represented from numerous genres, especially comedies, westerns, and luchador films. There are a few titles from the 1930s
and 1940s and a few from other Spanish-speaking countries. Some photographs are organized by actor, with approximately 110
performers, including both portraits and scenes stills. In addition, there is a small but significant number of stills from
exploitation films of the 1960s and early 1970s (about 50 titles) located in Series 3, along with a few more mainstream titles.
Series 4 contains photographs that appear to be from an unidentified commercial photography studio in Los Angeles.
Though the vast majority of photographs in the collection are 8x10 black and white prints, there are a large number of smaller
black and white prints, some negatives, and a very small amount of color material.
