Scope and content:

The Ambrose C. Cramer drawings of the Arthur Meeker residence consists of one flat file folder of six reprographic copies of architectural drawings, all dated February 26, 1930. Drawings include: plot plan, elevations (interior and exterior), detail elevations of court wall, façade details, schedules, and a basement plan.

Biographical / historical:

Ambrose C. Cramer was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 17, 1891. He received his bachelor’s degree in architecture from Yale University in 1913. Following Yale, Cramer studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris for three and a half years. After school, Cramer worked as a junior partner at the firm of Dangler & Adler from 1920, until he opened a firm of his own in 1929, which was based in Maine. Cramer designed residences in the Santa Barbara region and died in 1970.
