Description
Kenilworth (bark, 4m) and Star of Shetland (bark) logbooks (SAFR 16457, HDC 174) consists of photocopies of two logbooks. The first logbook is from the 4-masted bark KENILWORTH under Captain William Taylor. The owner was Arthur Sewell. The logkeeper A. Biedermann recorded the 1903 to 1904 voyages between Seattle, Hawaii, Philadelphia, Japan and Delaware. There is mention that the captain's wife is aboard and that lime juice is served daily to the crew. The second log is for the bark STAR OF SHETLAND during 1911 to 1915 under the command of Captain B.J. Larson probably engaged in the salmon trade on its run between San Francisco and Alaska. The collection is available for research use without restriction.
