Historical or Biographical Note
Agency History
In 1927, the California Transportation Company, Sacramento Navigation Company, and Fay Transportation Company unified their
operations between San Francisco, Stockton, and Sacramento and merged into the River Lines Company. Their operations were
initially located in San Francisco at Pier 3, Sacramento at the Foot of M Street, and Stockton at the Head of the Channel.
In the 1970s, Crowley Maritime bought the River Lines Company and subsumed the company's assets into its own operations. Sometime
between 1982 and 1986, the facilities were sold off.
