Description
The County of Santa Barbara drawings of bridges span 3 linear feet and date from 1914. The collection is composed of nine original architectural drawings documenting four different bridges along the state highway in Santa Barbara, California. Drawings document the Pony Pratt Truss Bridge over the Dos Pueblos Creek, the Eagle Creek Bridge, a 20 foot Bridge on the State Highway, and the Pedregosa Creek stone bridge- in the form of elevations, sections, and counterfort schedules. All but one of the drawings have Frank F. Flournoy listed as the County Surveyor and Edward T. Flaherty listed as the Consulting Engineer.
Background
Frank F. Flournoy was born in Missouri in 1868. By the late 1800s Flournoy relocated to Santa Barbara, California where he became the county surveyor, a position he held from 1895 to 1915. Frank Flournoy died at the age of 91, in the year 1960.
