Description
The Walter Seltzer papers span the years 1914-2004 (bulk 1960s-1980s) and encompass 4.2 linear feet. The collection contains scripts related to films produced by Seltzer; miscellaneous papers, including Christmas cards from Charlton Heston and material on Betzwood Motion Picture Studio; one scrapbook; and photographs. There are corporate documents for Walter Seltzer Productions. Some material is related to Seltzer? brothers Frank, a writer-director, and Jules. The photograph series consists primarily of biography and production photographs.
Background
Walter Seltzer was an American producer and publicist active in film from the 1930s. He came to Los Angeles in 1935 as a publicist for Fox West Coast Theatres. From 1945 to 1954 he was director of publicity and advertising for Hal Wallis Productions. He moved on to work for the production companies of Burt Lancaster and Marlon Brando. In 1968 he formed Walter Seltzer Productions, a film production company located in Los Angeles responsible for THE OMEGA MAN (1971), SOYLENT GREEN (1973), and other films.
