    Abstract: This collection, Logbooks, 1799-1883, contains six logbooks, a remembrance card and two leaves from The Art Journal. Named vessels in the logbooks include MODOC, ROCKHAMPTON, ST. PAUL, GEORGE OF PROVIDENCE, JAMES BROWN and RESOURCE. The author of the logs, where identified, is Walter Andrew Christianson. The remembrance card is for H.O. Christianson who died October 22, 1893. This collection is processed to the collection level and is available for use without restriction.

    Collection Scope and Content

    This collection, Logbooks, 1799-1883, contains six logbooks, a remembrance card and two leaves from The Art Journal. Named vessels in the logbooks include MODOC, ROCKHAMPTON, ST. PAUL, GEORGE OF PROVIDENCE, JAMES BROWN and RESOURCE. The author of the logs, where identified, is Walter Andrew Christianson. The remembrance card is for H.O. Christianson who died October 22, 1893.     Primary vessels named and dates of each log are as follows in chronological order: RESOURCE, 1799-1800; GEORGE OF PROVIDENCE, 1824-1829; ST. PAUL, 1854-1966; ROCKHAMPTON, 1867-1878; seven leaves labeled balance sheets for F.L.SOUTHBACHS, 1879; and MODOC, 1881-1883. Most of the logbooks have entries for voyages on other vessels. The logbooks for GEORGE OF PROVIDENCE, ST. PAUL, ROCKHAMPTON AND F.L. SOUTHBACHS were recorded by Walter Andrew Christianson, whose remarks and index sections in the logs add interest to content.
