Scope and Content of Collection

The majority of images in the collection are casual shots, taken by an amateur photographer. They were found grouped inside brown photography shop envelopes, with pencil notations on the outside, most addressed to Professor Bland. The images include groups of students on campus and at outdoor locations such as Joaquin Miller's cabin, as well as other authors and poets such as Edwin Markham, Japanese poet Takeshi Kanno, Jack London, and sculptor Gertrude Boyle. The student groups are likely part of the Short Story Club. Some of the images are related to literary magazine or La Torre production. In addition, Bland's family are featured in several of the images, and Bland himself can be found in many images.
