    Abstract: The collection consists of materials related to the life, activities and interests of Francis J. Horvath. Some materials relate to his interest in civic affairs in Newport Beach, and there are other personal items related to the celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Horvath’s 50th wedding anniversary and a cruise on the Queen Elizabeth 2 in the 1975-1976.

    Biography/Administrative History

    Francis J. Horvath was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 16, 1897, and he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1919 and received his law degree in 1922 from Western Reserve. He practiced law in Cleveland and married Ruth Hetherington in 1924. In 1943 Francis and Ruth Horvath moved to Newport Beach, California. He opened a real estate office in 1947, and served as chairman of the City Parks and Recreation Committee and president of the West Newport Improvement Association.

    Scope and Content of Collection

    The collection consists of correspondence, photographs, newspaper articles and ephemera related to the life, activities and interests of Francis J. Horvath. Some materials relate to his interest in civic affairs in Newport Beach, and there are other personal items related to the celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Horvath’s 50th wedding anniversary and a cruise on the Queen Elizabeth 2 in the 1975-1976.
