Several views in San Francisco and Sacramento are present, among numerous other places such as Oakland and Santa Cruz. Subjects pictured include store and smoke shop interior views, railroads, stage coaches, an early Gandy-Vrang airplane (1912), mines, resorts or hotels, exteriors of commercial or industrial buildings such as the Saratoga Paper Mill, town street views, ferry boats, early automobiles and early twentieth century gas stations. Four views relate to U.S. army soldiers stationed at Camp Columbus, Santa Cruz County. Three images relate to John Spaulding and his South Yuba Canal Company.
