Survey History
The Burbank Historic Homes Survey was initiated on July 15, 1991 after the Burbank district was not included in the Santa
Clara County Historic Resource Inventory. The survey, conducted under the Santa Clara County Historic Commission and the Burbank
Community Council, and lead by Marben Associates, evaluated the historical and architectural significance of homes within
the Burbank district. The Survey covered the area located within the perimeters of Bascom Avenue to the West, Meridian to
the East, Forest to Wabash in the North and Scott Street to the South.
An evaluation committee, composed of members of the Burbank community, selected twenty historic homes during Phase I. Their
selections were based on information and photographs gathered by volunteers under the guidance of Mardi Bennett, project coordinator
from Marben Associates, and Natalie Wells, project manager from supervisor Rod Diridon’s office. A final project report on
Phase I was published by Marben Associates. The committee met again during Phase II to evaluate additional homes.
