Collection Scope and Content
The Victoria (passenger vessel) logbook (SAFR 16481, HDC 201) consists of one ship's logbook with entries from September 24,
1902 to January 25, 1903.
This ship's logbook provides date, location, details of engine status by hour, often the geographical coordinates of longitude
and latitude position of the vessel and engineer's stores, noted by the engineer on duty. Other notes include daily weather,
storms at sea, remarks on repairs of the donkey boiler in Shanghai and a drydocking in Hong Kong. This passenger steamship
traveled from Port Gamble to various points in China and Japan and returned to San Francisco. The collection is open and ready
for use with caution due to fragility of volume.
