The Gold Shield Alumnae of UCLA was founded in 1936 by twelve UCLA women graduates to foster the relationship between UCLA
and the Los Angeles community and to support UCLA in its continued growth. In 1939, the organization launched its scholarship
program, establishing the first Alumni Scholarship Fund at UCLA.
Scope and Content
Record Series 43 contains files generated the Gold Shield Alumnae of UCLA. Files include documentation of the new membership
process, member biographies, scholarship files, and the Gold Shield constitution and bylaws, as well as documentation of activities
including "Drive for Dollars," the awarding of faculty prizes, and creation of a Silent Auction Book. Additionally, files
include pictures from the UCLA Sculpture Garden, letters from California Governor Pete Wilson and President Bill Clinton,
and other scrapbook materials.
