    Scope and Contents

The Cities of Destiny oral history project interviewed immigrants and minorities in Los Angeles. These histories document interviewees life experiences, including their early years in their native country, their journey to the United States, and their impressions of their new home country. Interviewers for the project were students taking Liberal Arts 196 at Cal State Northridge during the Spring semester of 1982.
The collection is divided into two series, Audio Recordings (1982) and Transcripts (1982). Series I, Audio Recordings, is further divided into two subseries: Digital Audio (1982) and Audio Cassettes (1982). The interviews were originally recorded onto audiocassettes, and one interview has been transcribed. Each series is arranged alphabetically by the last name of the narrator.
