Description
The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) Monitor Response Committee records, 1991-1997, is a collection of
the committee's meeting notes, correspondence, and related articles. The committee monitors radio, film, and television and
sends letters to media outlets praising or criticizing their portrayal of gays and lesbians. The collection was donated by
committee member Mike Roth.
Background
The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) Monitor Response Committee monitors the representation of gays and
lesbians in the media, specifically television, film, radio, and print. Committee members write letters directly to media
outlets regarding their representation of gays and lesbians, both real and fictional. The committee also contributes articles
to GLAAD's monthly newsletter.
