The Taft Organization collection of scripts span the years circa 1975-1985 and encompass 3 linear feet. Largely comprised of material submitted to the Taft Organization to be considered for production, the collection includes scripts, story outlines, and correspondence, mainly in the form of cover letters and memorandum. The material on an unproduced remake of GIANT (1956) is of interest.

Gene Taft was a producer, director, and screenwriter most active in film from the mid-1960s to mid- 1980s. He worked in development and was associated with Robert Evans at Paramount. Taft formed his own independent production company, the Taft Organization, in 1975. The company, located in Los Angeles, was incorporated by Vicki Taft that same year. In the mid-1980s, Taft acquired the rights to the characters in Edna Ferber's novel "Giant" and planned to make a sequel to the 1956 movie.
