Abstract: Richard Wyatt lived in China during the 1930s, and was an active member of the Boy Scouts Association in Shanghai. As part of the Seventh Shanghai Rovers troop, Wyatt became one of the most highly decorated Scouts in Shanghai troop history, earning the highest level of badges available to Scouts at that time. The collection consists of the shirt from Wyatt's Boy Scout uniform, which also includes the numerous badges and cords awarded to Wyatt.

Biographical Information:

Richard Wyatt lived in China during the 1930s, and was an active member of the Boy Scouts Association in Shanghai. As a part of the Seventh Shanghai Rovers troop, Wyatt became one of the most highly decorated Scouts in Shanghai troop history. He was one of very few holders of the Bushman's Thong (for outdoor skill), the King's Scout Badge (for community service), and Gold Cords (18 proficiency badges), which when all held together was the highest achievement possible for a Scout. He now lives in Australia.

Scope and Contents

The Richard Wyatt Collection consists of the shirt from Wyatt's Boy Scout uniform, which he wore as a member of the Seventh Shanghai Rovers troop. Attached to the shirt are the numerous badges and awards earned by Wyatt as a Scout, including the Bushman's Thong, King's Scout Badge and Gold Cords, which as a group were the highest achievements possible for a Boy Scout in the 1930s.
