Historical note
The California Faculty Association (CFA) is a union of professors, lecturers, librarians, counselors, and coaches who teach
in the California State University (CSU) system. It is the exclusive collective bargaining representative for members on all
CSU campuses. CFA is affiliated with Service Employees International Union (SEIU Local 1983).
Biographical note
Nina Fendel holds a law degree from New College School of Law. She worked for the California Faculty Association from 1988
to 2006 in a variety of positions including regional representative, membership specialist, arbitration specialist, and Director
of Organizing.
Scope and Contents
The bulk of materials in this collection consists of correspondence, articles, budgets, and reports related to California
State University (CSU) faculty salaries and higher education funding. Includes a "Four Percent Is Not Enough" petition asking
the state legislature to fund the CSU above the four percent level of past budgets, as well as salary studies used for collective
bargaining purposes.
