Description
This collection consists of materials related to the Environmental Coalition of Orange County (ECOC), a non-profit environmental group based in Santa Ana, California. The collection includes subjects divided into various county environmental issues from the mid-to-late 1970s to the early 1980s. In addition to correspondence to and from ECOC Executive Director, Harold (Hal) M. Thomas sprinkled throughout the collection, there are a variety of printed materials on many different local environmental issues.
Background
Formed in 1972, the purpose of the Environmental Coalition of Orange County, Inc. was stated, "...to preserve and enhance the environmental quality of Orange County." The Coalition informed its members and the public through its newsletter, "Environmental News" which was described as a clearinghouse of all environmentally concerned groups and individuals in Orange County.
