Abstract: Claire Brindis is a Professor of Pediatrics and Health Policy at UCSF, as well as the Director of the Philip R. Lee Institute
for Health Policy Studies (IHPS) at UCSF. The collection includes reports, proposals, correspondence, and newspaper and magazine
clippings collected over the course of her nearly 40 year career. Materials cover such subjects as reproductive health services,
adolescent pregnancy prevention, abortion, reproductive health and family planning, substance abuse prevention, and methods
of evaluating the success of programs related to these subjects. It also includes materials related to economic disparities,
access to healthcare, and the impact of these and other factors on Latinx communities.

Claire Brindis is a Professor of Pediatrics and Health Policy at UCSF, as well as the Director of the Philip R. Lee Institute
for Health Policy Studies (IHPS) at UCSF. She has held both positions for nearly 40 years. She was born in Argentina, and
immigrated to the United States as a child. She received her BA and her MA from UCLA, and her PhD in Public Health from UC
Berkeley in 1982.
Dr. Brindis's work focuses on program evaluation and the translation of research into policy at the local, state, and national
level. She is interested in social, health, and economic disparities among ethnic/racial populations, with a particular focus
on women, young adults, and adolescents and reproductive health, as well as Latinx communities. Her work also focuses on the
impact socioeconomic status on access to quality care and health insurance, and seeks to involve consumers in health care
system redesign.
She has published a number of books, countless journal articles, and has been the recipient of numerous awards, including
UCSF's Chancellor's Award for the Advancement of Women in 2009, election to the IOM (now National Academy of Medicine) in
2010.
Reports, proposals, correspondence, and newspaper and magazine clippings collected over the course of Claire Brindis's career
as Professor of Pediatrics and Health Policy, Department of Pediatrics and the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive
Health Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco. Materials cover such subjects as reproductive health services,
adolescent pregnancy prevention, abortion, reproductive health and family planning, substance abuse prevention, and methods
of evaluating the success of programs related to these subjects. It also includes materials related to economic disparities,
access to healthcare, and the impact of these and other factors on Latinx communities. The papers also include correspondence
with women's health advocates such as Jane Fonda and Hillary Clinton, as well as awards and honors given to Dr. Brindis over
the course of her career. Also included is a photo of Dr. Brindis with Dolores Huerta, and 2 DVDs.
