This collection is comprised of 91 items, dating from 1927-1928, related to the establishment of the Intermountain Title Guaranty & Trust Company of Salt Lake City, Utah, consisting chiefly of correspondence regarding the assignments of posts in the new organization and the feasibility of the new business in Utah.
Background
The Intermountain Title Guaranty & Trust Company was established in Salt Lake City, Utah, probably in 1927. It is worth noting that the company was called the Intermountain Title Guaranty Company in most sources from 1928. The corporation was the first organization in the state which engaged in the land title guaranty. Stephen L. Chipman, the first President of the company, was from an established family in American Fork, Utah, who ran Chipman Mercantile Company.
