This collection contains mostly handwritten and typewritten notes Dr. Lorayne Horka took from original sources regarding the
Pico family and land claims in California. Some of these notes were taken from materials at the Bancroft Library at the University
of California at Berkley, and the Huntington Library in San Marino, California. Other materials include bibliographies, newsletters
from the Governor Pico Mansion Society from the 1960s, newspaper clippings, and photographs from 1970 of the Pico mansion.
Horka created or collected most of the material, although some newsletters from the Governor Pico Mansion Society are addressed
to Charlotte Tufts, librarian at the Southwest Museum during the 1960s.
Initial processing completed by Braun Research Library staff. Finding aid completed by Holly Rose Larson, NHPRC Processing
Archivist, 2012 August 31 made possible through grant funding from the National Historical Publications and Records Commissions
(NHPRC).
