Background
Arthur William Meyer was a former professor and head of the department of anatomy at Stanford from 1909-1938. He was born in Cedarburg, Wisconsin and educated at the University of Wisconsin. Meyer earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University. He taught at Johns Hopkins, the University of Minnesota and Northwestern before joining Stanford. Durng WWII, Meyer conducted research in scurvy at Carnegie Institute.
