Scope and Content of Collection

The Association of Russian-American Scholars in the USA (also known as Russkaia akademicheskaia gruppa v SShA) is an association of émigrés and US specialists in Russian language, literature, history and culture. The records contain general organizational documents (member correspondence, financial records, minutes of meetings, and related materials), documents relating to a proposed "Golden Book of the Russian Emigration" (almanac of prominent émigrés and their contributions to world culture), materials on émigré life and culture, including other organizations (Orthodox Church, Tolstoy Foundation, Koulaieff Fund and others), members' files (including clippings, photos and other biographical data), editorial correspondence for the organization's periodical Zapiski (Transactions), Zapiski published and unpublished articles, obituaries, reviews, notes, and monographs. The bulk of the material is from 1967 to 2007.
