Scope and Contents

This series contains artwork by Fanny Dole from the early 1900s. Her most commonly used medium is graphite. However there are also watercolor, charcoal, print and ink pieces as well. The mixed media folder contains works predominately utilizing both charcoal and watercolor. The subjects of her art were typically boats, trees, people and roads.

Scope and Contents

This series contains newspapers and newspaper clippings collected by Arthur M. Dole. The bulk of the items relate to California in general, but also Pomona and Claremont more specifically. Some of the newspapers in this collection are from New Zealand, Australia, and Maine. Other newspapers and clippings pertain to the circus or the theater. Some of the clippings may have been written by Dole himself.

These photographs are primarily of transit systems and people traveling. There is a photograph of a stagecoach labeled as "Kimball Bros. stage which operates in conjunction with the Las Vegas and Tonopah railroads." There are also photos of cars, trains, people camping, horses and mules. Buildings that can be seen in the photos include Curtis Mann Mines and Mining, W. M. Stewart Law Office and Overland Hotel and Cafe. There is also one flyer advertising a $50 reward for the retrieval of two bodies lost in Death Valley.
