Abstract: Barbara Carrasco is a Chicana artist and activist from Los Angeles, California. Her work critiques cultural stereotypes involving
socioeconomics, race, gender and sexuality. Although Carrasco's works are mostly large scale, she is as equally comfortable
as an artist in creating small-scale works.
The collection is open for research.

Barbara Carrasco, born 1955, is a muralist and painter based in Los Angeles California. Her work focuses on social commentary
and has been important in the development of Chicano art, and U.S. political and public art. She has created many works that
have been exhibited internationally.
The half-sized document box includes 71 slides of Barbara Carrasco's artworks, gallery visits, portraits, and murals.
Researchers may also wish to consult The Barbara Carrasco Papers, for her collection housed at Stanford University, containing
materials such as correspondence, teaching files, project files, and artifacts pertaining to her art career and political
involvement.
