Record Series 415 contains correspondence, proposals, and memos from the Center for Language Education and Research.
Background
The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Center for Language Education and Research (CLEAR) was a federally-funded five-year project lasting from 1985 - 1989. The Center was part of the UCLA Center for World Languages. The purpose of CLEAR was to improve the quality of language education in the United States. It's chief focus was on English proficiency with a simultaneous commitment to the maintenance and development of heritage language proficiency.
