Subject:
Japanese Americans -- Evacuation and relocation, 1942-1945
Tule Lake Relocation Center
Note:
Castle Rock: The Camp was bounded on the Northwest corner by "Castle Rock". Remnants of the outer barbed wire fence, foundations
of the prisoner's barracks and the better built administrative buildings remain. No prisoner ever escaped beyond the higher
outer fence. The present town of Newell is in the background, and it consists primarily of the concentration camp remains.
The Tule Lake prisoners places a memorial cross on Castle Rock when the camp was closed, and the Newell townspeople have continued
to maintain it.
