Abstract:
Content/DescriptionWilliam Smyth (watercolorist and topographical artist) served as official artist of Captain Frederick W.
Beechey's expedition to the Pacific and Bering Strait on the ship H.M.S. Blossom under the command of Captain Beechey in 1825-1828.
The expedition wintered in San Francisco and Monterey Bays in 1826 and 1827. While in California, Smyth made drawings and
watercolors of the flora and fauna, among other subjects.
