Apparently the original was copied numerous times after his shooting in 1856.
King was Gold Rush banker and Chief Editor of San Francisco Evening Bulletin. He was assassinated by James P. Casey on May
14th, 1856. James P. Casey and Charles Cora were tried and executed by the second Vigilance Committee for the murder.
