Note:
Advertised as "Modernique Homes", this collaboration between Eckbo and architect Gregory Ain remains, according to Marc Treib,
"the most compelling evidence of a model joint venture among architect, landscape architect, and developer". This planned
development of homes near Venice in Los Angeles represents the greatest success that Eckbo and Ain attained in their aim to
provide a well-designed, low-cost community for a large number of people. Houses in this neighborhood currently sell for
upwards of $750,000 and many are well-maintained. The color snapshot of one of the homes in the development was taken by
landscape architect Michael O'Brien in 1987. A similar, if less commercially successful, collaboration between the two designers
is Park Planned Homes in Altadena, CA
