"Japanese-American Homecoming -- Only the Japanese-American with a job and a place to live, or an approved plan for the future will be aided by the War Resettlement Administration in returning to the Coast. Only about 150 of these Japanese Americans whose loyalty has been cleared have come back so far. Popular sentiment is not specifically known yet, but many sections seem glad to have their former Japanese-American friends and neighbors return to the fold. Picture is Mrs. Sumiye Sugimoto, 26, at her home in Redwood City preparing some rice. Mrs. Sugimoto was one of the first to come home. Her husband and brother are in the U.S. Army."--caption on photograph JARDA-1-48 Jump to Content
