Hastings Clothing Store, first started in Lick House, foreground. Street vendor, probably selling eyeglasses -- the purchaser was given a card and kept trying on glasses until he found a pair through which he could read the card, paid the seller 50 cents, and hooked the new glasses onto his nose.
