The Riva, No. 2 is one of approximately fifty plates rendered by Whistler during his 1879-80 stay in Venice. In 1886 the London
dealer, Dowdeswell and Dowdeswells, published The Riva, No. 2 with other etchings by Whistler in A Set of Twenty-six Etchings,
or the Second Venice Set.
