in margin: 100 Martinez, Sep 25, 1908 Dear Mr Johnson, Ive been in the Sierra Cascade mountains most of the summer have
not yet got my notebooks about me yet therefore I can't give definite answers to your questions about the forest reservations.
Will try to in a few days after a short visit I'm about to make to my daughter on the Mohave desert. I've been crying Save
the forests for at least 30 years, but most of the work actually accomplished was done on your suggestions or guidance after
1890. As to the H. Hetchy the Supervisors have decided to have a vote taken on the question of 750,000 - to purchase land
rights required, I enclose a few clippings. Mr Colby has been watching every moment while I was away, he can give you more
complete imformation I'll take your advice on the Carr letters, am ever faithfully yours John Muir
