A very beautiful day, in the afternoon received a good letter from Judie, answered the same in the evening also wrote to my friend H.M. [illegible] of Rochester. [illegible] cool morning wrote a letter to my mother. No news from home this morning, in the afternoon recieved a letter from Sergs Pitcher of Bongor, Marine, also wrote in answer to same person. --------------------------------- September 22, Thursaday. A very beautiful day. In the afternoon received a letter from Judie, answered the same in the evening also wrote to my friend H. M. Daniel of Rochester. September 23, Friday. Another cools morning. Wrote a letter to my mother, no news from home this morning. In the afternoon received a letter from Sergt. Pitcher [8.] of Bangor, Maine, also wrote in answer to same person. Note: 8.
