Pleasant and springlike the Cavalry which [illegible] [illegible] Gen. [illegible] are returning to their former Camp. All guilt on the [illegible] all heading are ordered from the Army a sure sign of an early [move] the men are ordered to be ready with Shoes to [illegible] light order at a moments notices. [illegible] W. Dey Dr. to a photographs .H8 Today we have orders to be on the [illegible] as the enemy are unusually active something is in the [illegible], no services at [Hd] [illegible] today. ------------------------------ March 12, Saturday. Pleasant and springlike. The cavalry which accompanied Gen. Kilpatrick are returning to their former camps. [4.] All quiet on the Rapidan. All ladies are from the army, a sure sign of a move, the men are ordered to be ready with shoes in light marching order at a moment’s notice. Chas.W. Dey dn to 6 photographs .48 Paid. March 13, Sunday. Today we have orders to be on the alert as the enemy are unusually active, something is in the wind, no services at HdQrs today. Note: 4. Hugh Judson Kilpatrick (1836-1881) , Brigadier General of the 3rd Division of the Cavalry Corps, was involved in the fiasco of the raid on Richmond – Feb-March 1864. Charles W. Dey was in Co.
