Transcription: [written above date]: Hd. Qrs. 3rd Division Stevensburgh Va. Very pleasant but cold day. Started at 7 o'clock for the mail. Wrote home in the afternoon at 3 o'clock. Started for the mail. Fowler the Hosp. mail Agent returned from Washington no news from home. Lieut. Shields is much better this evening. [written above date]: Hd. Qrs. 3rd Div. 2nd Corps Stevensburgh Va. Another pleasant day, [illegible] after the mail early. No letters from home, Lieut. Shields' parents arrived to take care of their wounded Son. In the afternoon the 1st regt. Del. Vols returned they having been home on furlough they are enlisted as Veterans. Gen. Hays welcomed them quite [cordialy]. Feel quite well. Received of H.L. Davidson Corp Mail Agent 40 Photographs 11 [cts.] each $4.40 R.S. Emmell. Dr. 3 pho .45 [illegible] P. Harris Dr. 6 pho .90 [illegible] Barnes Dr. 7 pho 1.05 [illegible] 2 paid .30 Henry Nightingale Dr. 2. ------------------------------ Feb. 11, Thursday, HdQrs 3rd Div. 2nd Corps Stevensburg Va. No news from home. Lieut. Shields is much better this evening. Feb.12, Friday. Another pleasant day, up and after the mail early, no letters from home. Lieut. Shields parents arrived to take car of their wounded son. In the afternoon, the 1st Regt.Del.Vols. returned , they having been home on furlough, they are enlisted as veterans. Gen. Harris could be James F. Harris, pvt. Co. C. 126th NY since he was from Ovid NY and he later sends money there.
